Muse Reveal Stage Laser Show Dangers

Pink Floyd never had to worry about anything like this. Muse are apparently finding that bringing prog rock into the 21st century isn't without its dangers, the Sun reports. According to drummer Dominic Howard, the Devon trio recently did a little in-gig experimentation and discovered that their laser-powered intergalactic stage extravaganza is a potential death trap.

"We got some big white balloons, threw them into the audience and decided to focus the lasers on them," Howard explained. "It was like a slow burn that gradually disintegrated them into nothing. We all thought, 'What the hell will our corneas be like in 20 years?'"

He added, "We could end up like that amazing vocal group the Blind Boys of Alabama -- getting around doing it really well but not seeing anything," the drummer added. The Blind Boys of Alabama are a multi-Grammy award-winning gospel collective who formed in 1939 at a Talladega institute for the blind. It is Spinner's understanding that none of the group lost their sight due to exposure to a high-powered, prog-rock laser show.

Muse are currently giving their eyeballs a rest following last summer's conclusion of their world tour in support of 2009 album 'The Resistance.' Health and safety permitting, they have a handful of South American dates scheduled for March and April.
